Hey everyone, Karen-Happuch here! I'm buzzing with excitement to share my recent experience as one of the facilitators for the Girls in Animation Blender 3D training program! This incredible initiative, generously funded by the African Women's Development Fund (AWDF), brought together 20 talented women animators from across Africa – Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, and Sierra Leone.
The program culminated in a grand finale, where I had the privilege of presenting on a topic close to my heart: Portfolio Building. Witnessing the dedication and passion of these women throughout the intensive two-week training was truly inspiring.
The goal was to equip them with the tools to translate their newfound Blender 3D expertise into impactful careers. We delved into strategies for crafting compelling portfolios that showcase their skills and value to the animation industry.
Imagine a room filled with creativity, determination, and a shared dream of making a mark in the animation world. That's exactly what it felt like! It was an honour to guide these future stars as they bridge the gap between their newly acquired knowledge and their vision for success.
A massive shoutout to the amazing instructor, Gabriel Mensah, and Mrs. Adzo Kyemenu-Sarsah, President of the Girls in Animation community who nurtured these women throughout the training. Their dedication was an inspiration!
This experience solidified my belief in the power of Girls in Animation's mission: to create a more diverse and inclusive animation landscape. By empowering women with the right skills and resources, we're paving the way for a future filled with groundbreaking animation stories told from diverse perspectives.
